Labor Day was an excellent opportunity for YEAR students to travel around the country and enjoy an extended weekend.
YEAR finalists from Missouri State University visited Chicago during the Labor Day weekend. “It was a refreshing experience to visit such a big city, wander the streets, meet new people, and try local food. Chicago is a beautiful mix of skyscrapers and gardens, which amazes you both from the height of the Ferry Wheel and from the Lake line”, said Irina Shokina about her trip to Chicago.
Chicago is also a popular destination for students from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Elizaveta Savochkina explored Chicago 360 observation deck, Millennium park, Lincoln Zoo and so many other places. “Don’t forget to try American pancakes,” she said. “It’s a must!”
Yana Vasilyeva, from University of North Georgia, visited Atlanta with her friends. “We’ve got to meet awesome people, explore cool places around the city as well as the suburbs! Must see: National Center for Human and Civil Rights, World of Coca-Cola, High Museum of Art, Ponce City Market, Little Five Points,” shared Yana.
